6th World Water Forum
Within the framework of the preparation of the 6th World Water Forum (March 2012), co-organised by the French State, the city of Marseille and the World Water Council, the urban community of the Grand Lyon and the Agency of Water Rhone-Mediterranean-Corsica will host on 30th and 31st of May the international meeting for the launching of the political process of Local and Regional Authorities.
The main objective of this process consists on mobilising the local and regional authorities for thinking and taking part jointly on its role on water governance and cleaning-up and to reinforce its voice towards the international community.
This international meeting, organised in collaboration with the international networks (UCLG, ICLEI, AIMF, etc.) will focus on the following points:
- The promotion and implementation of the Istanbul Water consensus adopted by the local and regional authorities during the 5th World Water Forum;
- The achievement of precise goals and objectives;
- The international collaboration and cooperation between local and regional authorities;
- The reinforcement of the role of the “pilot regions/cities” of the Istanbul Water Consensus;
- The articulation between the process of local authorities and other processes of preparation of the World Water Forum
The different plenary sessions and workshops, which will present specific cases, will analyse the objectives, solutions and ways of action to be adopted during the 6th World Water Forum, together with national and international associations of local authorities.
