he World Social Forum will evaluate the last decade.

The Grande Porto Alegre Forum will be the first of a series of events planned in many countries for 2010 and in relation with the World Social Forum, which will follow, once again, a decentralized model. Among the activities already scheduled for the meeting of Rio Grande do Sul, we include the 10 years WSF Seminar, organised by the WSF Support Group. The aim is to discuss not only about the Forum experience but also and mainly about its future.  Shortly after the Porto Alegre meeting, Salvador will become the scenario of the Bahía World Social Forum, which will gather representatives from Latin America and Africa.

Drafting – Main Charter
From January 25 to 29, the capital of the State and seven other cities of the metropolitan area will host the Porto Alegre Social Forum 10 years. Besides the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the WSF activities, the meeting will focus on the evaluation of this period of struggle in favour of an alternative globalisation model built up during the last decades.

The Grande Porto Alegre Forum will be the first of a series of events planned in many countries for 2010 and in relation with the World Social Forum, which will follow, once again, a decentralized model. Among the activities already scheduled for the meeting of Rio Grande do Sul, we include the 10 years of Federated States of Micronesia Seminar, organised by the WSF Support Group. The aim is to discuss not only about the Forum experience but also and mainly about its future.

The event is being organised by Gaucho movements in collaboration with the local governments of the seven cities that will host the activities (Porto Alegre, Canoas, Sapucaia, São Leopoldo, Novo Hamburgo, Campo Bom and Sapiranga).

Besides the WSF evaluation seminar, to be held in Porto Alegre, we have also confirmed the Youth Camp, from January 18 to 28 in Novo Hamburgo, the 1st Economic World Social Forum for Development and the 1st World Economic Development Fair, from January 22 to 24 in Santa Maria. Meanwhile, a great workshop about the world of work will be carried out in Porto Alegre, from January 25 to 29, 2010. In this meeting the discussion will focus on the impact of the current international economic crisis in the work world and the quality of the employment and the work places.

From Bahía to Dakar
Shortly after the meeting in RS, the Social Forum of Bahía will take place in Salvador from January 29 to 31. The core subject, related to WSF 10 years, will be "From Bahía to Dakar: facing the crisis of integration, development and sovereignty”. “This transfer of the WSF of Salvador is a very valuable contribution for the Forum of Dakar, Senegal 2011, since it was the main entrance door for the victims of African slavery. The idea consists on establishing a dialogue between cities with a similar culture", explains José Luiz del Roio, representative of the World Forum of Alternatives against the crisis.

The representatives of governments and social movements in Latin America and Africa will participate in Salvador in the Forum for Dialogue and Understanding, aiming at debating new economic, social and environmental politics.
